In addition to the immense personal satisfaction individuals report from taking part in The Great Adventure Challenge, the feedback relating to the positivity teams have taken back into the workplace has been exceptional.
Members of Team Carnage (Optus AlphaWest) have found working together in events such as the Great Adventure Challenge to not only be fulfilling personally but to have a strong positive influence on the way we are able to interact within the work environment as well.
The positive outcomes are not isolated to the team members who compete but have a halo effect on those around us who get caught up in our motivation and carry this into their daily routine.
As a manager of a large and diverse team I have found the leadership and teamwork skills required to fundraise, motivate and to co-ordinate the team for this sort of event carry over into daily business – everyone feels they are part of the challenge even though not everyone is competing and therefore there is a tangible improvement in team cohesion, there is also an incredible increase in the number of staff who are now at the gym with us having been inspired by our journey which again translates into business benefits as fit staff are more motivated, less likely to call in sick, have common interests and are happier within themselves personally and so more content in their jobs as a natural side effect.
It really is a win win scenario!

The leadership and teamwork skills we have developed across our business group (230 staff) in the fundraising activities has been invaluable and brought our business closer together. We are all champin' at the bit to get involved next year and have set even higher fundraising targets!
